Photo usage

Hello!

I'm about to publish a book about the Estrela Mountain Dog, a Portuguese canine breed, and would like to include the following of your photos: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:F-auricularia_M_-_HngFBK20080915_A023.jpg

Identification suggestion

Hey, Arp... not sure if you'd notice without a pointer: User_talk:Arp/ID-requests_Tst-1. It looks like the discussion has quietened down over the past few months, hopefully it won't be abandoned entirely. I've created a test page to try to transclude: File_talk:Orchard_Oriole_(immature_male).jpg/Identification, but I didn't want to edit your proposal page itself. What do you think? Permission please...

Hi. I'd like to use your picture from the Wikipedia entry for the Harlequin Ladybird in one of my talks about alien species. Commons:Renaming

Hi renaming files needs to be done appropriately. Changing a name if you identify a species does not obviate a more generic classification, and it is not an "obvious" error. Feel welcome to change the information. Alternatively have a conversation with uploader about the files that they uploaded and reach a consensus on the file renaming.  — billinghurst sDrewth 10:48, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi Drewth, answering from phone, not logging in...

I'm afraid I don't understand. If the image is showing a different species than the filename suggests, it would seem to me that the filename is 'obviously' wrong and it should be renamed. With that I make a point of using any naming scheme the original filename seems to follow and just substitute the correct species name in that. If the original uploader wants a different name, I suggest a new request be issued. I've never yet experienced a case where this happened, so it seems a total waste of time to go and discuss this beforehand on every misidentification. Time I don't have, and certainly have no intention wasting on bogus procedure. The name is wrong, I request to correct it. Done. Period. Wiki wiki 'member? Also I do make a point of reclassifying, changing descriptions and categories. If you think I went wrong with that somewhere, please provide a link and explain why.
